Its light taste is similar to hazelnut oil and sesame oil; this is due to the way the argan nuts are roasted and toasted.
The argan tree, the tree on which the fruit known as argan grows, only grows in semi-arid and desert-like areas of Morocco. It is a very robust tree that can grow at an altitude of up to 1500m. It is found in large numbers in Morocco, starting from the city of Safi and extending north to the High Atlas Mountains, past the city of Taroudant.
Argan trees are planted and grouped together in entire argan forests, called arganeraies. They are cultivated for their precious oil, called "green gold," which is known to have many virtues, both for the skin and for health. As for their leaves, they are used as food for camels and goats.
